WATTS TOWERS by Sam Rodia
the Watts Towers Arts Center

verticality height and upward movement

The Watts Towers as seen from the rear of the parcel of land where Sam Rodia had lived and worked in his spare time.
The towers seem weightless with their transparent texture.

The tiled arches reach almost to the top of the lower of the three towers. His use of the heart shape in many places on and around the towers earned him a place on the cover of the Beatles album Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
