WATTS TOWERS by Sam Rodia
the Watts Towers Arts Center

verticality height and upward movement

The Watts Towers as seen from the rear of the parcel of land where Sam Rodia had lived and worked in his spare time.
The towers seem weightless with their transparent texture.

The Watts Towers do not take up space - their structure contains it in its interior which is one with the air which permeates it. A macro-filigree built up of cement and steel creates not only an opportunity for the eye to wander, but one can enter this fairytale cement and ceramic world and wonder.
